A fala do técnico se da devido ao desgaste que os jogadores santistas vem sofrendo desde que voltaram a jogar após o término da Copa do Mundo. Em sete jogos, foram 5 empates e 2 derrotas.
O treinador não deu dicas de prováveis mudanças, mas ressaltou o cansaço que o time vive.
“Desgaste é grande para todos, principalmente para mim. Fizemos dois jogos no Brasileiro, não perdemos, teremos o terceiro e mais um contra o Cruzeiro. Momento é difícil em todos os sentidos, mas estamos buscando o melhor e dando oportunidade para todos. Há jogadores com desgaste muito grande, domingo e quarta intercalado… Por exemplo: pegaremos Atlético, que jogou em casa, descansou e não viajou. Viajamos para o Ceará, voltamos, viajaremos de novo, jogaremos…. É natural o desgaste. Natural que trabalhemos com a fisiologia para colocar o melhor que a gente tem. Não se trata de poupar, mas de quem estar melhor para não perdermos jogadores por lesão e ficar pior ainda”, disse Cuca.
Na quarta-feira, o Santos tem uma decisão contra o Cruzeiro, no Mineirão, pela Copa do Brasil. Derrotado no primeiro jogo por 1 a 0 em plena Vila Belmiro, o time paulista precisa de seus jogadores 100% para reverter o placar e seguir na competição.
O provável Santos para enfrentar o Galo: Vanderlei; Victor Ferraz, Luiz Felipe, Gustavo Henrique e Dodô; Alison, Carlos Sánchez e Diego Pituca; Rodrygo, Gabigol (Yuri Alberto) e Bruno Henrique.
