O jogo promete ser complicado, mas o Atlético costuma se dar bem quando enfrenta o Fortaleza no Castelão. Nas 4 vezes que os times se enfrentaram, o Galo venceu por 2 vezes.
O último duelo aconteceu ano passado, pelo Brasileirão. Após ficar atrás do placar por 2 vezes, o Galo buscou o empate em 2 a 2 com o adversário.
A última vitória atleticana aconteceu em 2006, pela Copa do Brasil. Na primeira partida das oitavas de final daquele ano, o Galo acabou sendo surpreendido no Mineirão e perdeu por 2 a 0. Na partida da volta, no Castelão, só um “milagre” faria o Atlético devolver o placar e sair do Ceará classificado.
Com muita raça desde o início da partida, o Atlético acabou devolvendo a surpresa e com um jogo de muita superação, venceu o Fortaleza por 3 a 1 e acabou eliminando os donos da casa.
Já no ano de 2005 aconteceu a primeira vitória do Galo. O Atlético visitou o Fortaleza pelo Brasileirão e não tomou conhecimento do adversário. Com uma goleada impiedosa e de virada, o Alvinegro venceu por 4 a 1.
No Brasileirão de 2003, os times se enfrentaram pela primeira vez em Fortaleza. Em mais um duelo de muitos gols, o Leão do Pici venceu o Galo por 4 a 3.
