Até hoje, 18 clássicos foram disputados entre os rivais e o Atlético conseguiu vencer apenas 4 vezes. São 7 vitórias do Cruzeiro e outros 7 empates.
Quatro destas vitórias aconteceram em mata-mata. Na grande final da Copa do Brasil de 2014, o Atlético bateu o adversário por 1 a 0, após vencer o primeiro jogo por 2 a 0 no Independência, se sagrando campeão da competição.
Pela semifinal do Campeonato Mineiro de 2015, o Atlético derrotou o rival por 2 a 1, de virada, e se garantiu na grande decisão do estadual, sendo campeão futuramente.
As outras duas vitórias do Galo, aconteceram pelo Campeonato Brasileiro. Em 2014, vitória por 3 a 2 e em 2017, vitória por 3 a 1.
