Após reunião com a diretoria do Galo, André foi comunicado da decisão tomada pelo presidente Daniel Nepomuceno. O ex-jogador do Atlético na década de 1990, voltará a exercer o cargo de diretor das categorias de base alvinegra.
André Figueiredo vinha sofrendo uma grande pressão pelo atual comando do futebol do Atlético. No jogo contra o Flamengo, no Independência, no dia 13/08, um grupo de torcedores exibiu uma faixa pedindo a sua saída do clube.
O ex-superintendente também foi alvo de um ex-jogador do clube. Nesta quarta-feira, o atacante Bernard fez comentários em uma rede social nos quais responsabilizou André Figueiredo por suas dispensas do clube.
