Fundado em 1911, o Tupynambás Futebol Clube, na cidade de Juiz de Fora, é o caçula do Campeonato Mineiro de 2019. Estreou em competições oficiais na cidade no ano de 1918, sagrando-se vice-campeão. Em 1919, conquistou seu primeiro título, sendo bicampeão no ano seguinte. Nessa mesma competição, conquistou mais onze títulos, o último em 1966.
Conquistou em 1934, o vice campeonato mineiro, perdendo o título para o Villa Nova de Nova Lima. O clube encerrou suas atividades profissionais em 1969, retomando no ano de 1983 e posteriormente no ano de 2007. Após nove anos de inatividade, o clube voltou no segundo semestre de 2016.
Com um projeto moderno e pautado, sobretudo, no profissionalismo, com intuito de manter a tradição do clube, o futebol do clube passou a ser administrado pela Meio di Campo Assessoria Esportiva, na gestão de Alberto Dalva Simão. Desta forma, o Tupynambás sagrou-se campeão mineiro da Segunda Divisão, conseguindo o acesso ao Módulo II. Foi o primeiro título em competições profissionais na história do Baeta.
Em 2018, o Baeta foi vice-campeão mineiro do Módulo II, ascendendo à elite do futebol mineiro após quase 50 anos.O seu mascote é o Leão, adotado em 1918. Os seus apelidos são Baeta e Leão do Poço Rico. Suas cores oficiais são o branco e o vermelho.
ORIGEM DO NOME BAETA
A denominação Baeta, teria vindo de um pássaro de plumagem vermelha, encontrado exclusivamente no Brasil, conhecido por Tiê-baeta ou Tiê-sangue. No livro “A Epopeia dos Vencedores – A Saga do Futebol de Juiz de Fora”, do escritor Halber Alvim Pedrosa, Baeta seria uma referência a um tecido vermelho, parecido com a cor da camisa do clube, muito utilizado no início do século passado.
O Baeta possui 106 anos de existência, ou seja, um clube consolidado. Primeiro clube, dentre os três maiores de Juiz de Fora a ser fundado, se tornando um dos principais representantes do futebol profissional do município. O estádio José Paiz Soares foi o primeiro do Tupynambás. Foi construído no Bairro Poço Rico, pelo presidente José Paiz Soares, o qual empresta seu nome ao estádio.
