Sensação do Galo na temporada, o atacante Alerrandro vem ganhando a confiança da diretoria atleticana e principalmente da torcida, que há muito tempo já pedia o jovem na titularidade Alvinegra, já que Ricardo Oliveira não vem passando por uma boa fase.
Artilheiro do time com 13 gols, Alerrandro, cria da base atleticana, começa a almejar um futuro promissor, e muitos já o comparam com outro atacante que veio da base do Galo, Carlos.
Carlos chegou ao Galo com 14 anos e sempre se destacou em todas as categorias pelas quais passou. Na temporada de 2010, ainda com 15 anos, foi destaque no infantil, marcando 28 gols no ano. Além disso, ainda defendeu a equipe juvenil no torneio Future Champions daquele ano e foi importante ao marcar outros dois gols.
Na Copa SP de Futebol Júnior de 2013, o Galo caiu nas oitavas-de-final, mas o camisa 11 foi o artilheiro do time na competição com 3 gols. Já em 2014, apareceu com uma das grandes promessas do futebol nacional. Mesmo com a eliminação do Atlético na semifinal, o jogador foi vice-artilheiro do torneio com 8 gols. Com contrato até 2018, o Atlético estipulou uma multa rescisória de 10 milhões de euros para o atacante].
Sob o comando do técnico Paulo Autuori, o atacante passou a ter chances no time principal devido ao rodízio que foi feito no grupo visando à disputa da Copa Libertadores da América. Seu primeiro gol com a camisa alvinegra não demorou a sair. Em confronto diante do Villa Nova, entrou no lugar de André na etapa final e marcou seu gol nos acréscimos após bela jogada. Com o passar da temporada, entrou em diversos jogos sendo boa opção para o técnico Levir Culpi, substituto de Paulo Autuori na transição dos semestres. Com o alto número de atletas lesionados, tornou-se titular do Atlético no restante do Brasileiro. Seu primeiro gol no torneio nacional saiu na vitória do Galo diante do Goiás em Goiânia. No jogo seguinte, foi a estrela do clássico mineiro. Atuando como visitante, o Atlético se impôs diante do rival e venceu por 3 a 2 em pleno Mineirão com dois gols do jovem atacante. Mais tarde, Carlos também marcaria um gol contra o Flamengo, no Mineirão, pela semifinal da Copa do Brasil, onde o Galo protagonizou uma virada épica e foi a caminho do título.
Nas temporadas seguintes, Carlos não obteve o mesmo sucesso e prestígio que havia conseguido nos anos anteriores. No Atlético, chegou a disputar posição com Diego Tardelli, Lucas Pratto e Fred. Começou a perder espaço no time e em 2017, foi emprestado ao Internacional de Porto Alegre.
Sem sucesso no time gaúcho, Carlos voltou ao Galo em 2018, mas não foi aproveitado. Foi emprestado novamente, desta vez para o Paraná Clube.
No final do ano passado, Carlos foi anunciado como Vitória de Setúbal, de Portugual. Na negociação, ficou acertado que o Atlético manterá uma porcentagem dos direitos econômicos de Carlos. Assim, em uma eventual negociação futura, o Galo recebe parte do valor.

Já o atacante Alerrandro está no Atlético desde 2014, quando passou a integrar a equipe Sub-14. Em 2015, o atacante fez uma grande temporada pelo time Sub-15, marcando 68 gols no ano. Alerrandro foi um dos expoentes do time que conquistou a Copa Laranjal Paulista, o Mineiro e a BH Cup. O bom desempenho o rendeu convocações para a Seleção Brasileira Sub-15.
Em 2016, Alerrandro fez o primeiro ano na categoria Sub-17 e conquistou o Mineiro da categoria.
O atacante foi convocado para a Seleção Brasileira Sub-17 e disputou o Sul-Americano da categoria, competição em que o Brasil saiu campeão. Alerrandro marcou um gol no torneio, na vitória brasileira contra a Colômbia.
Pelo Atlético, além da participação no time Sub-17, Alerrandro fez parte do grupo que disputou a Copa São Paulo de 2017 e também a do ano seguinte.
Alerrandro iniciou sua trajetória profissional no Galo em partida contra o Villa Nova, pelo Campeonato Mineiro de 2018. Até o momento, são 31 jogos disputados e 13 gols marcados.
