Na segunda fase, o Alvinegro passou pela Ponte Preta, com duas vitórias. 3 a 0 em Campinas e 1 a 0 na Arena do Jacaré.
Nas quartas de final, o Atlético eliminou a Chapecoense, com duas vitórias. Goleada por 4 a 0 na Arena do Jacaré e 2 a 0 em Xanxerê-SC.
Já na semifinal, o Galinho passou pelo Vasco com uma derrota e uma vitória. Perdeu por 2 a 1, na Arena do Jacaré e venceu por 3 a 2, no Rio de Janeiro.
